A “rogue trader” conned and threatened a Sanderstead homeowner out of more than £120,000 for shoddy, unnecessary and “never-ending” building work worth just £8,000 which left the house in an “absolutely abysmal” state and in need of £45,000 of repairs, a court has heard.Stuart Ackerley, of Park Lane in Coulsdon, cynically exploited his “luckless victim” Anthony Gavali into handing over cheques for building work that was either never completed, or done to such a poor standard that it shocked surveyors, it is alleged. When the money was paid into his account, it is claimed he splashed the cash on a home gym, a car, meals out and jewellery.
